In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the books and records for the Pepco Group Corporate Office legal entity. You will be responsible for the coordination and execution of account reconciliations, budget compilation, and back-up to the accounts payable function. This entity includes loans, share schemes, investments, intercompany relationships and management services and so provides a great opportunity to understand all the fundamentals of a general ledger along with engaging in some more advanced accounting. Although the key parts of the role focus on ‘Business as Usual’, there are a number of ongoing projects and a constant need for ad hoc analysis, providing you with a chance to get involved in project work and an opportunity to broaden your wider financial knowledge.


Responsibilities

  • Day to day accounting for the Corporate Office Entity including maintaining accounts payable, expenses, business banking, closing the books including month end accruals and prepayments.
  • Preparing reconciliations for balance sheet accounts on a regular basis to ensure accurate records are kept.
  • Supporting the production of monthly management accounts including actual v budget/forecast analysis for income statement, balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Using FCCS (Group reporting consolidation tool) to ensure that monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts are appropriately included within the Group reporting tool.
  • Preparing the Corporate office VAT and Corporate Tax compliance.
  • Maintaining intercompany balances and ensuring these are aligned with other entities across the group.
  • Preparing a number of key finance controls which impact the Corporate office entity on a monthly basis.
  • Working closely with Group treasury to ensure correct recording of intercompany loans, external loans and derivatives within the Corporate Office entities.
  • Preparing group reporting for Corporate Office entity and some other small Group entities including additional disclosure information.
  • Support the annual statutory audit deliverables for the Corporate office entities and other small entities.
  • Preparing weekly cash forecast and actual submissions to Group treasury.
  • Supporting the management of Corporate departmental costs by providing cost reports to ensure accurate and timely information in reviewing Corporate office budget performance.
  • Supporting the Senior Finance Manager in presenting annual Corporate Centre Budgets to Group CEO/ CFO and provision of support to Finance Leadership Team for their functional budgets and forecasts.
  • Supporting on the IFRS 16 implementation for Corporate Office to ensure that lease agreements are included appropriately.


Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills


  • Recently Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or a candidate who is currently completing their qualification.
  • Experience working within a finance or auditing team.
  • Retail experience is preferred but not essential
  • Experience working with financial systems (preferably Oracle Fusion)
  • Solid understanding of IFRS and UK Gaap accounting and ability to work with financial systems (preferably Oracle Fusion).
  • Structured, critical thinker who can work independently and self-sufficiently.
  • Understanding how financial statements are prepared.
  • Hardworking, diligent and strong attention to detail.
