Unique School Solutions are working in partnership with a primary school in Rotherham (S63), who are looking to recruit a Special Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant (TA) to start in September 2024. Initially this is a temporary job with the potential of becoming permanent following a successful probation period.
The job is for 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
The school

They aim to provide a rich learning environment allowing children to develop their skills and abilities to their full potential, whilst fostering their self-esteem and respect; building positive relationships, values, attitudes and feelings. Working closely with the local community, they develop respect for all cultures and promote positive attitudes towards other people.
The role
* Working 1:1 with a Y1 student with Special Educational Needs. This will be either in the schools SEN unit or within mainstream classes.
* Monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting on the students progress and development.
* Work alongside the Special Needs Coordinator (SENCO), teaching staff and parents/carers to create a personalised learning and pastoral care plan.
* Attend meetings either within school or externally
The candidate will have
* Experience working with children/adults with Special Educational Needs - This can be in a school/social care/residential care setting.
* Strong behaviour management, and organisational skills.
* A patient, calm and empathetic nature.
* TA qualification useful but not essential.
* Team Teach training useful but not essential.
* Good understanding of child development and learning processes.
* A pragmatic ‘can do’ approach to tasks.
