As the Head of Finance, you will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring the financial health of the organisation. You will oversee business planning, provide strategic financial guidance, and manage a team of three finance professionals. This role is key to supporting the organisation’s mission and achieving its long-term goals.

Main duties:

  • Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement robust financial strategies and business plans to support the organisation's objectives.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to the senior management team to inform decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Manage the preparation of annual accounts and liaise with external auditors.
  • Oversee cash flow management and ensure the efficient use of financial resources.
  • Enhance financial systems, processes, and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the preparation of funding proposals and financial aspects of grant applications.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team.

As the ideal candidate you will possess:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience. Candidates who are QBE or Part Qualified may be considered.
  • Extensive experience in a senior finance role, preferably with exposure to the charity or membership sector.
  • Strong leadership and line management skills, with experience managing a team of finance professionals.
  • Proven track record in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
