Sales/Account Manager

Our client are a leading global multi-modal freight forwarder & parcel distribution company, with its head office based in Manchester and further offices in Scotland, Yorkshire, Midlands and the South. Our client help to keep businesses all around the world, big and small, operating. They're one of the UK's fastest-growing logistics and freight forwarding companies with offices in China, USA, Netherlands & the ones mentioned in the UK (HQ). They are continuing to grow their team with positions becoming available all the time.
Job Role:
As a Field based Account Manager you will be the first point of contact for a portfolio of customers. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of your customer accounts, develop existing relationships and identifying new opportunities to ensure profitable growth.
This role can also be a Hybrid mix of new business and existing business, with a mixed target and opportunity to earn commission based on both the growth of existing accounts and bringing on new accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage your own portfolio of new and existing customers.
- Developing relationships and partnerships with new and existing customers
- Serve as the main point of contact for customers.
- Meet targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives within assigned accounts.
- Meet assigned expectations for profitability.
- Achieve customer objectives defined by company management.
- Negotiate and successfully close sales opportunities to meet and exceed agreed sales targets within the target markets agreed by management.
- Establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel both internally and externally.
- Maintain and develop the computerised CRM system.
- Work within an existing supplier base.
- Respond and follow up any business enquiries via telephone, email, and personal visits when deemed necessary.
Skills and Requirements
- Previous experience from within a Domestc Parcels, Pallets or International Courier/e-commerce background is essential
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Detail driven and adherence to deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative, self-motivated and tenacious.
- Computer literate with knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in customer facing role.
- Excellent team-worker with drive and enthusiasm.
- Familiarity with CRM software *desirable.
- Account Management experience *desirable.
