The Chamber Team have undergone some change over the last 2 years – a new CEO and a fresh membership tier system along with developing performance metrics.
The Board and CEO now seek an individual to fulfil a new role to bring further rejuvenation and development to the team.
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Head of Commercial will hold broad responsibility across staff team disciplines to drive commercial revenue.
The post will hold responsibility for identifying new commercial opportunities – again to drive revenue and increase revenue spread.
This role will provide key support to the Chief Executive and Board in delivering on key strategic deliverables and will therefore, over a short period of time, require a high degree of familiarisation with all aspects of the Chamber business, operational effectiveness and commercial inputs and outputs.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential :
- Proven track record of operating in the private sector.
- Sales track record with proven experience of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Proven track record in business-to-business account management or relationship role, and associated report prep to Senior/Director level
Desirable :
- Business related qualification or comparable professional training and experience
- Good working understanding of budgets and P&L
- Working knowledge of local, regional, and national business eco system and capability to forge collaborative relationships in these areas
- Experience in leading and inspiring a team
- Experience of public sector partnership and third-party working
- Understands the benefits of partnership working and can work with other
- organisations and individuals to identify opportunities which are mutually beneficial

Working pattern Full time (35 hours per week), Permanent (office based / out with clients)
Mon-Thursday 9am – 5pm
Friday 9am – 4.30pm

Salary £50,000 to £55,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities
General
• support / deputise for the CEO as required (including at board meetings)
• represent and promote Ayrshire Chamber
• work with CEO to develop and drive targets and budgets

Membership
• develop & manage effective, professional relationships with members, partners and stakeholders
• Develop, delivery and continually improve the membership strategy in consultation with the CEO and Board of Directors as required
• successful delivery of membership targets – numbers and revenue in line with strategy

• deliver any personal sales targets
Events
• support to develop a varied events programme that is attractive to all members
Training
• support to develop a high-quality programme of training that fits the needs of members

• ensure marketing activity supports all departmental goals
• monitor impact and effectiveness
• develop new messages
Revenue Generation
• drive commercial revenues- maximise existing member benefits & services activity
• develop appropriate (profitable) new revenue streams by identifying contracts / projects which fit and challenge the skill set of existing Team
• Develop and deliver a bid strategy for public and private sector contracts to drive long-term revenue growth and improve quality of earnings.
External Partnerships
• work with external partners to develop new and existing projects
• develop external partnerships to engage with non-members
Line Management
• line management responsibility for staff and/or managers within your teams
Line Management Responsibilities

The Head of Commercial will report to the CEO and may at times, be requested to undertake work or research directly by the Board of Directors to assist the CEO.
Attendance at Board Meetings may be required on an ad hoc or invitation basis.
Please not that in this role, there is an expectation to attend events and meetings outside of normal working hours, therefore flexibility to undertake this is an essential requirement in this role.
