Brighter Places developed from a merger between Solon and United Communities Housing Associations in 2021. We manage 3,300 homes for Bristol and surrounding areas and aim to build brighter futures by delivering 1,000 new homes by 2027.
About our Building Surveyor role:
In this role you will provide a high-quality customer-focused and professional repairs service, including the delivery of planned, cyclical and major project works whilst ensuring that our homes and customers are safe, and works are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety policies and statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities as our Building Surveyor:
Provide high-quality customer-focused and professional Asset Management services, whilst ensuring programmes, projects and contractors are effectively managed and high-quality asset management services provided.

Deliver a range of pre and post works inspections to ensure the right work is completed to a high standard that meets customers’ needs and is in line with our policies, procedures and statutory requirements.

Programmes of works will include, planned component replacements, planned cyclical painting and repair programmes, other major works projects / programmes, and large / complex responsive works

Work closely with suppliers and internal departments, such as Finance and Data & Performance teams to provide robust financial management and performance reporting for projects.

Support the Brighter Places ‘Out of Hours’ service in line with our Out of Hours Policy.
What we’re looking for in our Building Surveyor:
A further education qualification (e.g. HNC, degree) and/or relevant construction, maintenance or building related professional qualification.

Track record of delivering excellent customer service.

Excellent written and verbal communication with a diverse range of customers.

A good practical knowledge and experience of:

working with asbestos,

working within CDM Regulation,

monitoring Safe Systems of Working

contract and project management experience

Technical problem solving and skilled in assessing technical information, as well as devising and implementing appropriate solutions.

Excellent IT skills (incl. Microsoft Office and experience of using databases) and use of business systems.

Valid UK Driving License.

Ability to travel independently to visit customers and properties.
