In this role you will help mobilise a new, co-sourced development capability building new product centric tech capability at the Bank. Specifically, this will include the leadership and co-ordination of internal and external Ruby on Rails developer resources at varying degrees of experience to enable the continuously delivery new features into the Guarantees Portal, the system of record for c.1.8m guaranteed loans originated through 130 lenders. As a business-critical application, the portal allows the Bank to track exposure on our schemes on behalf of our shareholder, supports execution of critical business processes and represents the Bank in the marketplace.
You will line manage and provide mentoring and support for up to 3 developers initially, supporting with their career growth and skill development, including building capability in other programming languages. Additionally, you will act in a consultative capacity to the Product Owner, Solution Architect, Testers and business stakeholders to help deliver the right solution in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
In addition to coding, conducting code review and leading the team (internal and suppliers), the role will be responsible for building out a multifunctional, cross discipline development team with capabilities across the Banks preferred programming languages and ensure delivery is aligned to the Banks software architecture vision. Building a team culture aligned to the values of transparency, challenge, outcome focused and collaboration is crucial for this role.
You will be able to demonstrate a depth and breadth of software engineering competencies including but not limited to:
System and software designSystems integration and buildRelease and deploymentQuality assuranceApplication supportUser experience designAlso you will have an excellent knowledge of refactoring, application architecture, performance tuning, debugging, design patterns, and working effectively in legacy applications, and experience leading and advocating for a development team, and providing day-to-day support and mentorship to other developers.
