Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals Mencap is seeking passionate Relief Support Workers to join our incredible team in Amersham.
As a Relief Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.
From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.
The support is across two services. At one the three ladies we support have many varied interests including horse riding, walking locally and further afield, swimming, going to gym, listening to music and attending theatre, concerts, cinema. They also attend day centres, further education and work placements. On Sundays they attend Church. The ladies also enjoying watching soaps on TV and having Girls nights in with their friends.
All the ladies families are actively involved and the ladies go on holiday with their families. They also spend weekends at home during the year.
At the other service we have two ladies and three men. The people we support have many varied interests including walking locally and further afield, swimming, gardening, listening to music and attending concerts, cinema, visiting families, going on holiday. Some attend further education ie cooking, art, computing and drama.
All the people we support are fully mobile and use local public transport. The people we support like the people supporting them to be happy, friendly with a good sense of humour. They also like people to be consistent in their approach but also adaptable to changing circumstances when out and about supporting them.
What we're looking for:
A genuine passion for supporting others.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Contract options:
Relief - flexible hours based on availability
Shift times:
All our services are 24hr care.
Days: Between 07:00-10:00
Sleep-ins: 10:00-07:00
*All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
*Due to the nature of this service we are looking for female only applicants. This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
