Senior Back-End Developer – Fintech | London (Hybrid) Build high-performance financial systems powering global transactions. We’re partnering with a scaling fintech in London to hire a Senior Back-End Developer with deep experience building resilient, low-latency systems within regulated environments. If you enjoy designing high-throughput services and solving complex technical problems in payments/financial platforms, this is for you. The Role You’ll be responsible for building and optimising backend services that power real-time financial products. Your work will directly impact transaction speed, reliability, and platform scalability. You will: Architect and build high-performance, event-driven services Develop secure, fault-tolerant APIs for transaction processing Optimise systems for latency, throughput, and concurrency Work with distributed systems , messaging queues, and microservices Implement and maintain KYC/AML, authentication, authorisation flows Collaborate across Product, DevOps, and SRE to scale infrastructure Uphold best practices around security, observability, and testing Tech Stack (Experience with Most Required) Node.js / TypeScript or Java (ideal for high-scale fintech systems) Microservices architecture Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS or similar messaging tools PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis , NoSQL Containerisation with Docker & Kubernetes Cloud experience with AWS (Lambda, ECS, EKS, API Gateway, DynamoDB) Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger , CI/CD pipelines Strong understanding of security standards, encryption, compliance Fintech Domain Experience (Required) Payments processing (cards, wallets, settlements, acquiring/issuing) Experience in regulated environments (FCA standards, PCI-DSS, GDPR) Understanding of risk, fraud, or transaction monitoring systems Familiarity with financial domain modelling and ledger systems What We’re Looking For An engineer who: Has 5–7+ years in backend engineering Can design systems that scale globally Thinks in terms of performance, reliability, and failure modes Is comfortable working in a fast-moving, product-led fintech environment Interested?
