Senior Buyer - Quantity Surveyor

Office Based Position
Up Front Recruitment is looking for a Senior Buyer, or a Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Background wanting to step into a Senior Buyer role, for a leading Civil Engineering company due to their Senior Buyer coming up to retirement. The role is based in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire.
What they require-
1. Someone from a commercial background who can place subcontract orders with a proper contract which mirrors the main contract conditions.
2. Write contractual letters.
3. Understand all options of the NEC forms of contract.
4. Be able to do price comparisons making sure the quotes are all like for like.
5. Producing ongoing cost analysis tables demonstrating actual costs & savings against estimated costs.
6. Setting up of partnering agreements with major suppliers and plant hire companies on a local and national basis
7. Generally being accountable for delivering competitive contract cost savings
8. Chair pre award and prestart meetings.
9. Have an active role in live subcontract packages, solving problems. Monitoring and updating of Suppliers & Sub-Contractors database Attract new subcontractors on to our preferred suppliers list.
10. Setting up and monitoring of purchasing procedures in compliance with the company’s Environmental, Quality, and Health & Safety policies.
11. Collating information for O&M manuals/Handback File
12. Ensure all subcontractors have passed our procurement procedure to be added onto our preferred suppliers list.
13. Manage a very good materials buyer, mentor and advise.
14. Purchasing of company vehicles and plant
15. Liaise with the estimating department with discussions on tender methodology and pricing.
16. Liaise with construction directors and site managers.
17. Good communicator.
