Non-Executive Directors - University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust
3-5 days per month remunerated
To ensure commitment to our colleagues, patients, and visitors, we are now accepting to several Non-Executive Directors opportunities to join our Board. Working with the Group Executive team and in consultation with the Council of Governors, you will support and challenge to help us shape the future of the Trust.
You will bring the ability to work as an effective member of the Board and its Committees, an understanding of the various components of a complex organisation with a devolved site-based operating model, and the ability to relate to and understand a range of healthcare professionals, local government and voluntary organisation representatives, and members of the public amongst others. We are looking for expertise in the following areas:
-People services, human resource management and organisational development including cultural improvement
-Public sector finance
-Business acumen

UHB's corporate meetings are usually held on Thursdays.

Main duties of the job
To work with the Executive team, in consultation with the Council of Governors, on the strategic and annual plans of the Trust to ensure that the priority local health needs of the population served by the Trust are fully considered.
*To ensure that the Trust establishes key objectives to deliver the agreed plans and to regularly review performance towards delivery of these objectives so that appropriate corrective action can be taken when required.
*To lead or participate in Committees or sub-groups of the Board charged with specific activities to support the delivery of services.
*To ensure that effective financial control arrangements are in place across the Trust to secure high levels of probity and value for taxpayers' money.
*To ensure that processes and procedures are established to deliver high standards of professional, clinical, administrative, and personal behaviours across the Trust.
*To represent the Trust in dealings with individuals and with national, regional, and local bodies including the Integrated Care Board to ensure that the views of a wide range of stakeholders are considered and the position of the Trust is enhanced.
*To support, and challenge where appropriate, the Chair, Chief Executive Officer, and other Executive and Non-Executive Directors of the Trust, to ensure that the workings of the Board of Directors conform to the highest standards of corporate governance and that the delivery of local health services is enhanced.
