Intern - Associate, Impact Measurement and Management, Climate

LeapFrog Investments is looking for an exceptional intern to support the delivery of three critical initiatives:
- Elevate and operationalise LeapFrog’s ability to support its portfolio embed global climate best practices as new value creation service.
- Conduct research into climate change-related themes and sector-specific decarbonisation strategies, risk assessment practices, and more.
- Drive the execution of LeapFrog’s own climate best practices and initiatives to deliver our sustainability goals and reduce our climate impact.
To achieve the above imperatives, you will:
- Be a thought partner on effective practices to guide on the development of a Climate Toolkit relevant for a portfolio that spans financial services, healthcare, and climate tech across LeapFrog’s targets regions: South Asia, Southeast Asia and Africa.
- Collect data across the portfolio on companies’ current climate-related practices and recommendations to inform high-priority opportunities for LeapFrog to support their journey to Paris Alignment.
- Manage the collection and delivery of LeapFrog’s financial and operational data to enable quantification of our GHG emissions.
- Develop a plan to help streamline and/or automate future data collection for travel emissions, providing recommendations on emissions reductions tactics.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Associate Director, Impact, Climate, to pilot a new value creation service for the portfolio - a Climate Toolkit – to support portfolio companies’ integration global best practices related to decarbonisation, risk management, governance, etc.
- Assist with audits and reviews of select portfolio companies to define the requisite benchmarking, baselining, and performance measurement.
- Engage with portfolio companies to collect and analyse climate data and identify specific value creation opportunities using the Toolkit’s initial ‘Greenprint’.
- Work closely LeapFrog’s Finance and Impact functions, plus external service provider, to quantify Leapfrog’s own GHG footprint.
- Advance LeapFrog’s climate action plan by automating future data collection and analysing our carbon emissions inventory to identify emissions reduction opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in sustainability or climate related roles.
- Demonstrated excellence and repeated successes in a number of the following areas.
- Understanding the complexity of implementing sustainability projects in emerging markets.
- Experience assessing climate risks and opportunities.
- Deep understanding of the private equity investment process spanning origination, value creation, monitoring, reporting and exit.
- Climate analysis and strategy-setting.
- Understanding of investors’ climate expectations and management thereof, as well as climate reporting e.g., ISSB, TCFD, etc.
- Relevant investing experience, ideally with exposure to emerging markets, highly desirable
Competences and Attributes
- Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written) and advanced PowerPoint skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; highly adept with Excel
- Superb relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders at various levels and professionalism
- Experience working in diverse and global teams, seeking input from, and harmonizing diverse perspectives and practices
- Intellectual drive and capacity to enable speedy integration into all of LeapFrog’s activities and investments
- Exceptional project management of multiple workstreams, across time zones and under tight deadlines
- Proactive self-starter with drive, flexibility, and resilience to get things done and quickly reprioritise tasks, as needed
- A willingness to work across time zones; we maintain a flexible work policy across the globe to make these unusual hours work for teams and families
