Key Information

Job Title: Senior Quality Engineer

Location: Carlisle, Cumbria

Hours: 37.5 per week

Salary: We are keen to offer a competitive compensation package dependent on skills, experience, travel required and current market, therefore, we actively encourage candidates to disclose their salary expectations at screening stage.

About the role

The principle responsibilities include:

  • Provide full support to the Project and Production Teams in the form of technical and quality information, supporting quality related documentation
  • Provide estimated cost and task durations for the preparation, submission and approval of job related documentation.
  • Carry out maintenance and up effective management of the Business Unit QMS conforming to the management system standard ISO 9001 and welding processes standard ISO 3834-2
  • Continued review and implementation of local and specific instruction procedures, working documents, welding procedures, qualifications, and records.
  • Organisation of the calibration of the manufacturing and test equipment within the Carlisle Manufacturing Business Unit.
  • Ensure all aspects of customer quality requirements are implemented, promoted in the works environment, and maintained to a satisfactory standard.
  • Participating in bid meetings to establish technical/quality compliance relevant to the successful completion of a contract and achieving key performance indicators.
  • Liaison with subcontractors, client representatives/inspectors about work scope quality ensuring contract compliance throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with customers, third-party inspection companies, manufacturing workforce, managers, and suppliers.
  • Responsible for the continued assessment of new and existing sub-contractors and supplies to ensure the continued correct supply of products and services in accordance with client Flowdown terms.
  • Contribute to the development of the department and strive to make continuous improvements through feedback and experience.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Time Served Engineer preferably with ONC/HNC in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Machining & Fabrication knowledge together with organizational/planning experience.
  • Certified CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspection
  • Ability to Interpret Engineering Drawings and associated Geometric Tolerances and Symbols.
  • Understand Material Grades and recognize the implications of associated material specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills with internal and external customers at all levels.
  • Quick thinking, dynamic and persistent to achieve results.
  • Ability to co-ordinate customer’s activities in a diplomatic manner.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, decisive and committed.
  • Good working knowledge of computer systems.


Additional Information

  • Mainly Office Based on site at Carlisle
  • Occasional visits to TEAM premises, customer and supplier sites within the UK.
