About the role

We're looking for a Finance Director to join us here at AXA Retail.

The Finance Director role is a pivotal leadership role, working as part of the Executive Committee (ExCom) team you'll be responsible for leading the finance function and own the financial performance for AXA Retail. Reporting directly to the CFO UK&I, this role involves leveraging all financial resources and expertise in the AXA UK financial teams to provide one single view of finance matters to AXA Retail ExCom.

This exciting role offers the opportunity to influence and set impactful change whilst also using your influence and strong stakeholder management skills to interact with finance and the wider operations business to bring both together in order to contribute to the growth and success of AXA Retail.

You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. What you'll be doing:

Ensure that effective financial analysis exists to support business planning and decision making to ensure the profitability of the business is maximised.
Leverage all financial resources and expertise in the AXA UK financial teams to provide one single view of finance matters to AXA Retail ExCom.
Actively contribute to the strategy and direction of the business based on an understanding of current business performance, market, and economic conditions.
Implement adequate financial risk systems.
Lead finance business partnering providing support to the business on all financial and commercial matters, new deals, expense and commissions management and planning, budgeting and reporting.
Monitor the financial performance of products, instigating appropriate actions to remedy any issues and manage risks.
Maintain an overview of the capital and solvency position for the Retail Business ensuring business decisions reflect capital and solvency implications considering Solvency II requirements.
Identify and assess the market and economic environment to ensure key areas of focus identified.

About you

What we’re looking for:

Commercially minded finance professional with proven experience of financial management including pricing, profitability, financial planning and analysis, reporting, accounting procedures and controls.
Strong financial services knowledge with a professional or Actuarial qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, MBA, BBS, FIA etc.
Outstanding analytical skills and experience in a major Insurance services provider ideally within retail but this is not essential.
Successful track record of delivering and leading teams through change.
Excellent leadership and management capability with the ability to inspire trust and credibility through your actions and communication.
Technically astute with the skills and knowledge to back up opinion with data.
Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to interact with finance and the wider operations business to bring both together.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

Please be aware that this position is a Certified Function role under the SM&CR regime, which means the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced level of background screening requirements.
