Role Summary Business Analyst / ConsultantFull-time, Hybrid (at least 3 days onsite)Fixed Term Contract until 3 May 2027 (with the possibility for extension)£41,723 per annum pro rataApply by 12pm (midday) on Monday 1st December 2025 The Role: This is an exciting opportunity for a business analyst / consultant to join the British Museum’s Information Services department to drive the Museum’s digital and technology transformation and improve cyber security. In 2024, the British Museum received 6.5 million visitors, more than any other museum in the UK. Against this backdrop, the British Museum is now undergoing an extraordinary transformation, including with its technical development with many older legacy systems currently being updated with new technologies bringing opportunities for change and development. You will play an essential role by identifying business challenges, sourcing new technologies, and managing change throughout the Museum. You will get the opportunity to work with stakeholders across the entire Museum, from Archives to Cybersecurity to Facilities Management to Collection Care. This is a unique opportunity to deliver change to one of the world’s most iconic and valuable cultural heritage institutions and be part of a community of people passionate about the values of the Museum and its 260-year legacy of providing free access to the history of the world. Key Responsibilities: Understand existing business needs and individual stakeholder requirements. You will achieve this through discovery exercises, workshops, and stakeholder engagement Document findings in report papers. Papers will clearly articulate existing challenges, scope of the project, objectives, options analysis, and recommendations Engage with wider market and technology suppliers and test solutions, support procurement processes, and make recommendations Manage change during implementation of complex projects to support benefits realisation About you: 1 or more years’ experience working in a professional environment. Fantastic organisation skills and able to manage multiple ongoing projects in tandem. Excellent communications skills, orally and in writing. Able to clearly articulate existing business challenges, findings and recommendations through written reports and oral presentations. Able to establish relationships and work effectively across all levels of the organisation. The ideal candidate will also have experience working across different parts of large organisations, translating business needs into technical requirements. Able to evaluate and balance with sensitivity, needs of Museum departments against overall strategy. Demonstrable experience contributing to projects involving cybersecurity frameworks and compliance. Have an inquisitive mindset. The ideal candidate will be naturally curious with a passion for understanding how the organisation works and the ability to design new and improved processes.
