The National Centre for Combustion and Aerothermal Technology (NCCAT)
Full-time and fixed term for a period of 24 months
There is a new, exciting opportunity to study the combustion and flow physics associated with hydrogen fuel injection systems at the National Centre for Combustion and Aerothermal Technology. This project will focus on optical measurement techniques to improve understanding of the interaction between mixing and chemical reactions inside micro-mix hydrogen flames.
Applicants must have a PhD and subsequent post-doctoral experience in laser measurements of relevance to combustion, fluid mechanics or similar disciplines. They should further have a strong publication record with extensive experience in publishing research findings in international journals and conference proceedings. Good lab skills and experience working with Class 4 lasers is essential.
Experience of the design and setup of OH-PLIF and/or PIV measurements; setting up optical measurements for use in high pressure combustion experiments; research experience with shear layers and jet mixing are also desirable.
