We're looking for a Superintendent Radiographer to lead our General and Interventional Radiology team at The Wellington Hospital, currently rated "Good" by the CQC.


They successful candidate will, when necessary, act as direct line manager with responsibilities for other modalities or for the Radiology department as a whole.

This role is jointly responsible for the radiology service across all Wellington Hospital sites and travel between sites will be required.


The post holder will also support Imaging Management in service planning and service development, and align themselves with the department's, and wider hospital's goals and values.

The Wellington Hospital is the UK's largest independent hospital with over 260 beds and 1000 employees.

We have a state-of-the-art Interventional Radiology Suite and a fully DR General/Fluoroscopy rooms.

We cover a wide range of complex surgical procedures to include use of navigational surgery using a specialised O-Arm.

Ensure the highest quality of care is provided at all times and to provide an effective service as part of the day-to-day operation of the department

Ensure high quality imaging is provided to our consultants and liaise with relevant radiologists in striving for image optimisation

Oversee all aspects of safety to both patients and staff, complete and review risk assessments and local rules. Lead on the observation and compliance of safety checks, procedures, and policies to ensure a safe imaging environment. Provide emotional and professional support to staff

Assist with bookings & workforce planning to ensure correct bookings and review activity , manage utilisation of the examination rooms and mobile imaging equipment in line with service requirements and in liaison with imaging management

Chair meetings for the Ionising Radiation User Group, Non-Ionising Radiation User Group and report into the Local Radiation Protection Committee to ensure department is compliant with relevant legislation


Be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures within the radiology department and ensuring all staff work within these guidelines.

Responsible for having oversight of clinical staff rota and on-call rota.

Ensure compliance with Local Audit and Equipment QA.
