Following a period of change within the Transport Operations Department, we are now looking for a Transport Assistant to join the team.


You will support the efficient operation of all transportation within the Leger Shearings Group & work as part of a busy team, being responsible for delivering the transport strategy of the group and ensuring that the day-to-day operation provides an excellent customer experience, whilst remaining in budget.

These guys ensure the smooth delivery of our customer promise to make the holiday happen for thousands of customers

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Routing and timing of all transport networks.
  • Monitoring total journey times for feeders and tours and advising where action needs to be taken.
  • Ensuring continued company compliance with legal driver's hours requirements.
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with external suppliers including coach operators, ferry companies and airlines.
  • Working with all members of the Transport team to aid the planning and scheduling of the auxiliary elements of the department.
  • Making sure all operational administration is up to date.
  • Working to tight deadlines in a highpressured environment.
  • Responding to Customer and Driver feedback to ensure improvements are made.
  • Actioning cancellations/ consolidations and amendments with suppliers.

Requirements:

  • Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK and Europe
  • Must be a natural problem solver, able to make quick and effective decisions.
  • Have a proactive approach.
  • Confident working on own initiative, as well as working as part of a team.
  • Proven experience working in a fastpaced environment.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Previous transport/logistics experience essential.
  • IT and numerical skills would be an advantage.
  • Professional telephone manner.
  • The nature of this role means you will be required to work outside of normal office hours and due to the nature of our business, will include occasional weekend work.

Experience:

  • To be successful in the role you will need to be comfortable working in a fastpaced environment.
  • Assisting with a wide range of tasks and activities in a fastmoving environment.
  • Problemsolving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • IT proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a good level of literacy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Highly organised.
