Our Special Skills apprenticeship offers you the chance to specialise in one of three crucial aspects of manufacturing at our Sunderland plant - vehicle repair, panel repair and paint spraying.


Work on the line is incredibly fast paced and you'll need excellent attention to detail to make sure each and every car we build reaches the high level of quality our customers expect from us.


Through a combination of on-the-job training in the plant and day release at college (one day per week), you'll gain the specialist skills you need to work with state-of-the art equipment across the plant and become an important member of our team.


An apprenticeship in Special Skills at Nissan will provide you with great opportunity to become a true expert in your chosen area.


This apprenticeship will provide you with a foundation from which you can progress in the manufacturing environment, using your skills to support the ever-evolving techniques and practices as part of our world class production facilities.


You will have potential to support others, demonstrating your skills and sharing your knowledge both with your team, and cross functionally.

Your special skills will ensure Nissan continues to go from strength to strength with our award-winning productivity.

Vehicle Repair pathway


This pathway will see you working in either Quality Assurance or on the Final Line, identifying and carrying out vehicle repairs and gaining valuable industry knowledge in repair standards across all parts of the car.


Apprenticeship overview:


Special Skills is a two-year scheme, that's been specially developed by Nissan in conjunction with a local college which combines theoretical and practical skills.

You will gain valuable insight into all aspects of your chosen specialism.

You'll also acquire the skills and knowledge you'll need to work as a key member of our Special Skills teams here at Nissan.


What you'll need - Vehicle Repair

Entry requirements - 4 GCSEs or equivalent

  • Mathematics (Grade A-D or 3 min)
  • English Language (Grade A-D or 3 min)
OR

Level 2 Functional skills

You will be requested to provide copies of your certificates before you start the apprenticeship - if your grades are predicted we will ask for certificates once you have your exam results.

  • L2 Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship
  • L3 Improvement Technician
  • L2 Team Leading or L4 Improvement Practitioner
(Performance Depending)

Applicants must be 16 or over at the start of the apprenticeship.

The recruitment process is carried out at Nissan Sunderland Plant SR5 3NS and you must be prepared to attend assessments as required.
