ROLE PURPOSE:

To provide day to day and ongoing support to production, production engineering and maintenance. This support should ensure the timely, effective and efficient introduction of new projects and existing projects. The primary objective is to achieve ongoing improvements in Health & Safety, Productivity, Quality, and Reliability/Repeatability, thereby reducing plant costs. The candidate should definitely have strong technical abilities in order to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

· Leading and being involved in improvement teams to provide technical input and problem solving support as appropriate.

· Assist Dept Managers in analysing production/quality data to identify priority projects

· Identify & lead improvement projects using LEAN tools to achieve defined objectives

· Develop own ongoing training in consultation with Extrusion Manager to become an expert in the field of extrusion and related disciplines long term

· Assist with pricing, capacity and capability information during the preparation of tenders.

· Providing input at the design stage of new projects to ensure optimum design for manufacture.

· Process design and management for new projects.

· Specification & procurement of internal production equipment. This will include identifying suitable special purpose machine builders & managing the build of such machines.

· Management of the delivery, installation and commissioning of new internal production equipment.

· Training of production personnel in the use of new equipment.

· Specification of preventative maintenance procedures for production equipment.

· Provision of support on technical issues relating to all internal production equipment throughout the life of a project.

· Continual striving to identify areas for improvement and to justify and action suitable improvements.

· Assist with the design and implementation of plant layouts.

· Concept design and sourcing of packaging for transportation of components and finished parts.

· Assist with the specification and procurement of production handling equipment.

· Co-ordination of Process FMEA's and involvement in Design FMEA's.

· Deputize for Dept Managers as appropriate once having gained sufficient knowledge and experience.

· Promote EBS practices and philosophy across organization.

The candidate for this position will be responsible for monitoring the operations of our systems, including quality and compliance. The candidate should also be able to recommend improvements to the process through the tracking of metrics and reporting of data. The candidate should definitely have strong technical abilities in order to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Familiarity with process control
  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
