We are looking to recruit 3 permanent, full-time Provider Support Assessors to support people with all aspects of their Direct Payment as part of Sheffield City Council's in-house Direct Payment Support Service.


The Direct Payment Support Service offers people advice, support and assistance around setting up and operating their Direct Payments and helping to resolve issues people might encounter.

The service also offers support to people who recruit and employ Personal Assistants (PAs) and helps build on people's own strengths and assets to empower confident and creative use of Direct Payments.


Post holders will be expected to provide information, advice and guidance to people accessing Direct Payments so they can make informed choices and understand their responsibilities relating to having a Direct Payment, the employment of PAs and/or purchasing care/support from providers or agencies.

You will link people to specialist support and advice where necessary.


The Personalisation and Direct Payments Strategy ensures that we put people first so that the citizens of Sheffield are empowered to take control and self-direct their own care and support; as a result, citizens will achieve the outcomes that they choose and live the life they want to live.

The Direct Payment Support Service within Commissioning & Partnerships is based in Howden House in the centre of Sheffield.

The post holders will be expected to travel to visit people, groups and organisations across the city, attend and support drop-in sessions, workshops and events in public and community venues and work flexibly and remotely where appropriate.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement.

We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade.

If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
