Job Description and Position Requirements:

This role involves coordinating the Master Gardener Program in Somerset County, collaborating with Master Gardeners to offer education on sustainable horticulture practices to county residents. Reporting to the Area and State Master Gardener Coordinators, the candidate will oversee operations, volunteer programs, community outreach, and revenue strategies. Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the program spokesperson
  • Act as a liaison between offices and volunteers
  • Engage in community outreach and educational activities
  • Develop revenue enhancement strategies
  • Identify educational needs and maintain program relationships
  • Utilize technology for program management
  • Ensure compliance with affirmative action plan
  • Attend meetings and perform assigned duties
  • Participate in occasional out-of-town gatherings

Required Qualifications: Degree in Horticulture, Environmental Science, or related field; volunteer management skills; ability to inspire leadership; community partnership building; strong organizational and communication abilities; computer literacy with various tools. Background managing volunteers or in horticulture and education is preferred.
