Job Title: Principal Flood Risk Consultant

The Flood Risk and Hydrology team at Arcadis is currently seeking a talented Principal Flood Risk Consultant to join us. In the field of Engineering, you will contribute to creating groundbreaking structures and spaces that shape our world. From facilitating smoother journeys to developing public areas that foster community connections, your work will have a significant impact. Through our involvement in various schemes, we collaborate closely with regulatory bodies like the Environment Agency and key infrastructure providers such as Network Rail and Highways England, alongside Local Government and private developers/investors.

Aside from overseeing the development of flood risk models, this role entails handling Project Management responsibilities. You will collaborate closely with clients, explore growth opportunities for Arcadis projects, and emphasize proactive and creative thinking as core aspects of your role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee modeling studies and flood risk projects
  • Lead and produce flood risk assessments
  • Mentor and support junior team members
  • Resolve technical modeling issues and enhance our expertise
  • Conduct technical reviews of hydraulic models
  • Prepare project proposals, bids, and fee estimates
  • Manage project components, ensuring effective communication and quality assurance
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines for project integrity
  • Ensure compliance of project components and deliverables
  • Establish strong client relationships
  • Oversee commercial aspects of projects
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders
  • Provide guidance to project teams and champion quality and innovation
  • Support the development of yourself and team members
Requirements & Experience:

As a seasoned professional, you should hold chartership with a relevant body such as CIWEM or ICE. Proficiency in fluvial flood modeling software like ISIS, TUFLOW, ESTRY, and FLOOD MODELLER PRO is essential. You should have the ability to manage project finances efficiently, conduct Flood Risk Assessments, and possess comprehensive knowledge of UK flood risk policies.

Desired Skills:

  • Expertise in UK hydrological studies
  • Experience with Surface Water Management Plans and SuDS
