  • Fixed Term Contract: 9-12 months, to start August 2024
  • Location: UK or US – needs to be flexible with working hours to support across UK/US time zones when needed
  • Reports to: Head of Performance
  • Direct Reports: SEO Team – 1 x SEO Director, 1 x Senior SEO Strategist, 1 x SEO Manager & 2 x SEO Analysts

As the Senior SEO Director, you will be responsible for leading the US and UK SEO departments and driving the development and execution of comprehensive SEO strategies for our clients. You will play a key role in overseeing all aspects of SEO, including technical SEO, on-page optimization, off-page optimization, and content strategy. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, leadership skills, and deep expertise in SEO best practices.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the service delivery for SEO across the agency.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive SEO strategies to improve organic search visibility, drive traffic, and increase rankings for our clients.
  • Lead and mentor the SEO team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
  • Demonstrate SEO offering and delivery to our clients, confidently presenting and showcasing our SEO capabilities.
  • Support new business opportunities by conducting audits and providing SEO strategic recommendations.
  • Conduct in-depth SEO audits and assessments to identify optimization strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to implement SEO recommendations and best practices.
  • Track and analyse key SEO metrics and KPIs and provide regular reporting to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, serving as the main point of contact for SEO strategy, performance, and optimization opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date with SEO tools, technologies, and industry best practices to maintain a competitive edge and drive innovation.
  • Provide thought leadership and strategic guidance on SEO excellence.

What you'll bring

  • Expert across all aspects of SEO (technical, content optimisation, link acquisition)
  • A track record of success in managing all dimensions of SEO campaigns, including:
  • Creating SEO strategies which achieve client goals
  • Technical SEO experience including CMS configuration, IA, web design, UX, site migrations and technical audits
  • Coordinating multiple large-scale SEO campaigns
  • Detailed keyword research linked to client business goals
  • On-site recommendations and content gap analysis
  • Advanced link analysis and auditing
  • High performing and sustainable backlink management
  • Performance forecasting and analysis
  • An up-to-date view on relevant SEO developments and trends
  • Excellent numeracy, data handling and analytical skills
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO toolsets for technical analysis, link management and forecasting
  • Experienced in using tracking and analytics platforms (e.g. GA and Adobe Analytics) to provide clear insights to clients
  • Confident working with HTML
  • Able to understand and work with a range of programming languages including JavaScript (preferred)
  • Experience leading and managing a team of SEO professionals, with a collaborative and supportive leadership style.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex SEO concepts and strategies to clients and internal stakeholders.
