RWE Generation's UK Environment Team addresses a diverse range of environmental challenges.

Our team plays a crucial role, not only in supporting our current portfolio of efficient gas and biomass fired power stations but also in facilitating the delivery of consents and permits to support the decarbonisation of our generation fleet.

In alignment with RWE's clear ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, we are actively involved in the deployment of cutting-edge technologies, such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen combustion plants and battery storage.

Furthermore, we extends our support to the development of RWE projects for green hydrogen production, which will help other sectors decarbonise.

These forward-looking investments underscore that now is a great time to join our dynamic team to help us achieve our ambitious goals and actively contribute to shaping the future of a decarbonised energy system.

We are expanding our team, and we are looking for a specialist with strong scientific and analytical skills to provide expertise, analysis and modelling on the environmental issues relevant for our generation business.

As well as direct support to our sites and development projects, the role also provides the potential to be involved in broader sector activities.

Part of our role is also to identify the risks and opportunities presented by future regulation and we work with trade associations, environmental regulators and government to respond to these challenges.

This work is supported through the expertise that we provide to a programme of research, funded by major UK electricity producers, into the environmental impacts of electricity production, and the role would provide the opportunity to undertake studies in support of this.

As well as undertaking analysis and modelling projects, depending on your interests and development aspirations, your role may extend to other aspects of the team's work.

This could include providing expert support to deliver compliance with environmental regulation, managing environmental risks and opportunities for our portfolio, driving improvements in environmental performance or helping to deliver consents and permits.

**Your responsibilities: As an Environmental Analysis and Modelling Specialist your responsibilities could include:

  • Conducting assessments and in-depth analysis of environmental impacts to support the effective management of environmental risks. This could include emissions, air quality, habitats, water resources, water quality and climate change adaptation.
  • Undertaking modelling assessments independently or managing the delivery of such assessments by external consultants as appropriate.
  • Providing valuable support and expert advice to the business on current environmental requirements and anticipating future trends. Devising & undertaking projects designed to advance both company and sector perspectives on developing regulatory issues.
**About you: - A degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline.

  • Strong organisation, coordination and stakeholder management skills, combined with excellent teamworking and communication skills. While experience or knowledge in the power sector would be advantageous, it is not a prerequisite; the role is designed to offer opportunities for developing your expertise in this domain.

Your skills and experience could have been gained in the electricity sector, or equally from other industrial sectors, research, consultancy or regulatory bodies.

Occasional travel to various locations in the UK, and potentially overseas, may be required.

What we will offer you

  • A competitive salary based on experience and up to 15% annual bonus
  • A personal retirement savings plan if you put in 5% we will top up by a further 10% and you will get life assurance worth 4 x annual salary
