Procurement Specialist - Manufacturing


The responsibilities of the Procurement specialist are to oversee all aspects of sourcing suitable suppliers of manufactured components ensuring that specification, quality, price, and deliverables are acceptable.

Keep accurate records of requirements and correspondence and generate quotation requests. Placing purchase orders and monitor to ensure parts are received on time.


As a part of our growing product portfolio we design, develop and manufacture precision digital printing machines from our facility in Corby and are now looking to recruit to fill the above position.

As the Procurement specialist you will work closely with the Design, Production Control & Fitting teams to ensure parts are available when required.


This role has a direct reporting line into the R&D Director and regular alignment meetings will occur with the design team and operations.


Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing suitable suppliers of manufactured components ensuring that specification, quality, price and delivery are acceptable.
  • Source and investigate potential suppliers and recommend suitable ones for NPI projects or existing products.
  • Build and maintain strong, longlasting supplier relationships.
  • Place purchase orders and monitor to ensure parts are received on time.
  • Keep accurate records of requirements and correspondence.
  • Work with our key suppliers to help improve their performance, competitiveness, and capabilities.
  • Drive a step change in supplier capability through the utilisation of continuous improvement techniques, structured interventions, risk mitigation and other action plans.
  • Reviews supplier product designs, processes, and activities for compliance with company manufacturing guidelines, quality processes and standards.
  • Working closely with Dantex technical team.
  • Close liaison with our operations, manufacturing, marketing and finance functions.
  • Involvement with company departments to resolve order or invoice discrepancies.
  • Proactive delivery of any relevant followup to customer requested parts.
  • Generate quotations and set margin percentages based on cost pricing.
  • Communicates product and process issue analysis to procurement engineering leader and product team.
  • Consult with engineering/R&D personnel to establish performance criteria and specifications for suppliers.
  • Perform RFQ and total cost analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation sharing, codesign/development utilising the relevant capabilities of both parties for mutual benefit.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment, particularly component purchasing, essential.
  • Computer literacy essential.
  • A working knowledge of SAP Business 1 would be preferable.
  • Good communication skills both written & verbal.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good team player.
  • Ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services.
  • Ability to position products against competitors.
  • Ability to take command and direct support teams.
  • Ability to communicate with all stakeholders in the business.
  • Strong negotiation skills and strong relationship development skills.
  • UK travel required to form relationships with suppliers.
  • Ability to work remotely but travel to the UK offices on a frequent basis for internal development when needed.
