JOB TITLE:
RECEPTION TEAM LEADER



REPORTS TO:
PRACTICE MANAGER

Job summary:


Responsible for the day to day supervision and management of all reception staff and associated functions, ensuring all functions are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures, protocols and time-scales, reporting to the practice manager as necessary.


Job responsibilities:

  • Induction and training of all new staff to agreed standards.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels, approving annual and other leave and organises bank holiday rotas in line with agreed policy.
  • Ensure adequate reception and associated facilities for practice, CCG and other in
- house providers associated with the practice.

  • Manage the various appointments, visit and other books in line with agreed policies.
  • Deal with more complex enquiries from patients and deputise for practice manager as practice complaints officer
  • Continually assess and evaluate systems recommending changes and improvements to the practice manager as appropriate.
  • Undertake normal receptionist duties in accordance with the Receptionist Job
Description.

  • Annual appraisal of receptionist
  • Maintenance of the reception standard operating procedures
  • Fire marshall including weekly testing of alarms and fault reporting
  • Ordering supplies and completing weekly returns for hearing aid batteries.

The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to:

  • Communicate effectively with patients and carers
  • Recognise people's needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly

Contribution to the implementation of services:

The post-holder will:

  • Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work
  • Participate in audit where appropriate
