About Us:

Role Overview:

Our service at Southwark is a Floating Support Service that works with clients aged 16-25, mixed gender. We are a low to medium support service that operates in the north side of the Southwark borough . Clients are provided with their own accommodations and offered support with tenancy sustainment, housing, education, training or employment, budgeting, maintenance of benefits or parenting and childcare advice.

We are searching for a youth oriented individual to work with young people to understand their aspirations in order to promote and deliver successful activities which would support them to realise their ambitions into education training, volunteering or employment. The appointed candidates will join the team as Peer Support Worker (Floating Service) on a full-time hours per week) , permanent basis.

As Peer Support Worker, you will be involved in Depaul's Programme's Team activities, and liaise with external youth, education, employment and leisure services, such as Southwark Council services, colleges, work program's and youth clubs.

In addition, you will manage a small caseload of clients, doing one-to-one work, supporting with the following needs: housing advice, tenancy sustainment, budgeting, benefits / financial advice, independent living skills, accessing wellbeing and substance misuse support.

Key Responsibilities:

Organise, promote and deliver activities and workshops to support young people into education, training, volunteering or employment outcomes. Activities will be both group and individual support sessions and will cover a range of areas including: employment workshops, healthy relationships, life skills groups, wellbeing activities, 1-1 confidence building, family support. Encourage client engagement and take a person-centred approach by putting their views and aspirations at the forefront of planning and delivering activities Support the team with interviewing and assessing referrals in order to identify support needs.

What We Are Looking For – Person Specification:

Experience in delivering engagement programmes to young people Experience in youth or client participation Understanding and knowledge of the issues faced by vulnerable young homeless people Understanding of how to successfully support clients into education, training, volunteering and employment opportunities. Understanding of the importance of developing effective relationships both internally and with external partnership organisations
