£35,017

Location:
Walthamstow Wetlands with occasional travel to Woodberry Wetlands and Camley Street Natural Park

Role & Responsibilities
- Experienced and motivated Sous Chef needed to join our team at Engine House
- Work closely with Head of Cafes & Events to oversee kitchen operations and maintain food quality and presentation standards
- Opportunity to contribute expertise in a vibrant cafe setting and potentially grow into Head Chef role
- Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and food costing
- Supervise kitchen staff and ensure compliance with Food Hygiene regulations
- Oversee kitchen operations, including food production, plating, and inventory management
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, equipment upkeep, and sanitation standards
- Train and mentor staff in cooking techniques and safety procedures
- Help in staff scheduling and effective labour cost management
- Collaborate with the Head of Cafes and Events on daily specials and menu offerings
- Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations

Our Ideal Sous Chef
- Proven experience in a cafe or restaurant setting as a Sous Chef or senior line cook
- Strong leadership and management skills to motivate kitchen staff
- Excellent culinary knowledge and skills in various cuisines and cooking techniques
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and a passion for food quality
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Creative flair and willingness to contribute to menu development
