The role of our business area (Secretarial and Operations) is to provide central administration support services to all business areas, employees, and Partners at Barnett Waddingham.

In order to provide these services our network of teams include various roles, with all positions united in delivery of professional support services, aligning with the growth and success of firmwide business objectives.


We are seeking a Telephonist for our Cheltenham office,

with attractive hybrid home-working days in the office) and flexibility, where you can share your time between your home and the office (after the initial - 2 weeks of training).

This is initially a 3 month fixed-term contract however may be extended or become permanent.

Responsibilities:


The Telephonist's main responsibility will be to answer and deal with calls from clients, scheme members, their representatives and other organisations, ensuring the delivery of professional customer service and safe onward transfer and processing of all inbound calls including response to our out of hours messaging service.


Key responsibilities include:

  • To act as the first point of contact for customers, clients and partner organisations; communicating effectively and efficiently with in a professional, courteous and timely manner.
  • Answer a high volume of calls and maintain a rapid response rate to agreed standards, remaining calm and providing a professional response at all times.
  • Operate the switchboard in a prompt, professional and pleasant manner.
  • Report any faults in the switchboard, internal call system and any systems connected to the telephone software.
  • Maintain and update the electronic internal telephone directory.
  • Any other reasonable task as advised from timetotime.
  • Support, Implement and Maintain Information Security procedures and activities in accordance to Barnett Waddingham's Information Security Policy.

Qualifications:

  • Experience of working in a professional services environment or similar, particularly a customer services and/or telephony team role
  • Extensive experience of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word).
  • Experience of telephony or switchboard systems
  • Has excellent verbal communication style and confident telephone manner
  • Good grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Conscientious ensuring that work is completed to a good standard and within specified timescales
  • Adaptable and responsive to changing needs
  • Remains calm under pressure polite and courteous to clients and employees
