We are looking for a highly motivated Research Impact Manager to develop research impact through policy, practice and engagement with internal and external stakeholders. The post-holder will be responsible for leading on the development and implementation of the University's research impact strategy, leading impact preparation towards future research assessment exercises, and systematising and building capacity for impact tracking and evidence gathering. This is a full time, fixed term maternity cover post for 9 months. A part time appointment will be considered, minimum of 3 days per week. If you intend to apply for this as a secondment opportunity you should inform your line manager. The Research Impact Manager's main responsibilities will be:
  • To support the preparation of REF Impact Cases by delivering impact canvas planning workshops, and effective evidence collection.
  • Prepare and deliver training associated with developing strong impact case studies.
  • To co-ordinate meetings and engagement with Faculty Impact Champions and Associate Deans for Research and Knowledge Exchange.
  • To compile information for Impact audits and co-ordinate follow on activity.
  • To design and deliver materials for the website and other media to promote the impact of Oxford Brookes research.
  • To provide advice and knowledge about developments related to REF 2029 through engagement with Research England and other professional organisations.
  • To manage the budget and funding calls to deliver impact across Oxford Brookes.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues across RIE and Faculties to ensure successful delivery of REF 2029.
Qualifications and Skills First degree in any discipline, or equivalent experience. Experience of the research environment of a Higher Education Institution and a demonstrable ability to think creatively about how that research can be used or disseminated outside the sector for the benefit of users – both actual and potential. Experience of developing Impact Case Studies for Research Excellence Framework and/or other purposes.
