The Role
We have an exciting opening for a highly experienced Senior Planning Consultant with a solid commercial background to join our dynamic team at LWMTS. Working closely with Artemis Christophi, a Nationally recognized and Award-winning senior planning executive, this role offers a variety of engaging tasks involving different planning applications within the diverse landscape of Lichfield. Exciting challenges, regeneration, and growth opportunities await.
Job Purpose
Support and oversee specific major developments within LWMTS (Lichfield West Midlands Trading Services) on behalf of Lichfield District Council. This includes providing pre-application advice, drafting and implementing planning performance agreements, evaluating major planning applications, and managing appeals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process major planning applications, especially those of a complex nature.
- Contribute to negotiations and conflict resolution when needed.
- Participate in negotiating Section 106 and CIL Obligations.
- Offer insights on planning appeals work.
- Guide developers on local development opportunities.
- Assume a vital role in planning procedures and protocols.
- Represent the council at various meetings and groups as necessary.
- Contribute to planning policy and service improvement/transformation reports.
- Provide supervision, mentoring, and training to team members.
- Degree or Diploma in Town and Country Planning or equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in Development Management and/or planning policy.
- Proficiency in negotiations involving Section 106 Planning and CIL Obligations.
- Understanding of planning/environmental law & procedures.
- Effective problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated team leadership skills.
- Ability to manage projects from concept to completion.
- Strong reporting and presentation skills.
- Commercial and project management expertise.
- Target-oriented and self-assured.
- Strong people skills, focusing on client relations and communication.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Deadline-driven with a positive and proactive approach.
- Quick adaptability and attention to detail.
- Full driving license and access to a car.
