Male Day Opportunities Worker


Career progression to Grade 6 will be upon completion of Diploma in Social Care level 3 or equivalent recognised qualification.


This is an exciting opportunity to join the Day Opportunities Service at Imperial Wharf Resource Centre, supporting older people and people with physical disabilities.


Working as part of a small team you will be providing personal care to residents (Day Centre attendees), facilitating, and developing a range of therapeutic group and individual activities.

You will act as keyworker to residents forming links with families, carers and other professionals ensuring the customer's dignity and wellbeing is put at the heart of service delivery.

The service is currently open Monday to Friday Occasional early morning and evening working may be required. Approximately one weekend per month may be required if service extends to seven days, currently under review.


To be successful in this role you will need the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, sometimes under difficult circumstances and respond under pressure.

The ability to handle crisis situations calmly, quickly, and logically, is essential.

Role Responsibilities:

1.4 To provide high standards of physical support/ assistance with personal care as required.

1.6 To carry out assessments and promote independence.

  • To assist in the general running of the service in relation to administration, reception, tidying & cleaning of communication systems. To promote an inclusive atmosphere and actively promote and value diversity.

  • Use person centred approaches to support residents.


Care Planning
  • To undertake with the manager or senior worker initial assessments & care planning of new referrals. To coordinate a multidisciplinary approach and maintain proper records and assessments. To communicate well with families and/or carers. To comply with department standards and legislative requirements in respect of confidentiality
