The Research & Innovation office at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and keen individual to join our team as a Band 5 Assistant Research Facilitator.


The post holder will work as part of the R&I office team and provide support for the setup of a specific portfolio of research studies.

They will support both the research office and research teams in the development and facilitation of research activity.

They will develop a detailed understanding of the purpose and principles of NHS research and innovation and the regulatory requirements applicable to research.

You will be highly organised with a professional approach and a keen eye for detail.

A team player, you will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to manage competing demands on your time.


Applicants will be expected to have a relevant degree or equivalent experience, knowledge and understanding of the purpose and principles of NHS research and an awareness of current legislation relating to research governance.

  • Work as part of the research office to facilitate increased clinical research activity within KCH and ensure that it complies with the necessary governance and regulatory frameworks for research.
  • Support the development and delivery of research plans which includes collating all aspects of the clinical trial and ensuring clarity of stakeholder roles and responsibilities. Advise research teams on the NIHR metrics, timelines and process which will be undertaken by the office before research can begin at KCH.
  • Review study amendments to determine local implications and changes to finance and resource requirements
  • Undertake feasibility assessments of new research projects in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining records of progress and communicating outcomes to the research teams and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders/departments (sponsors, pharmacy, labs) involved in research projects to ensure their support is in place prior to project startup.
  • Analyse and interpret regulatory and ethics requirements for the conduct of clinical research, especially the Health Research Authority requirements, Good Clinical Practice, and related research regulations, in order to ensure delivery of authoritative advice to investigators and continued compliance with regulations and governance.
