An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pathway Coordinator within the Surgery, Theatres, Anaesthetics and Endoscopy Care Group.

We are looking for a hardworking, reliable person to join our Elective Admissions Booking team.

The successful person will need experience in patient centred/customer service environment and demonstrable administration skills.

The position is 37.5 hours per week.

The purpose of this post is to provide a comprehensive administrative service within the Elective Admissions Booking Team.


The post holder will be responsible for the effective delivery of the surgical elective waiting list and administrative support services, working in conjunction with the Elective Admissions Team Leader and Service Management Teams.


The post holder will be responsible for booking elective surgery lists and improving RTT performance through validating the admitted waiting lists.

The Pathway Co-Coordinator will be expected to work with the minimum of supervision.

They will be able to demonstrate flexibility and use own initiative to carry out duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation, thus enabling the Consultants and their team to utilise their lists in an efficient and effective manner.

The post holder will provide a confident professional service to all patients, whilst supporting them throughout their pathway of care.

It is vital that confidentiality be maintained at all times. The post holder must adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures at all times.

Key Duties:

  • Ensure senior staff are aware of data management issues.
  • Assist in initiatives, which aim to improve data quality.
  • Accurately and efficiently, enter patient data on to various databases. This will require a high level of attention to detail.
  • Prepare and produce reports/spreadsheets, presentations and other documents as requested using the format required by the team and external agencies.
  • Plan in advance with senior staff in order to provide data that will meet the necessary requirements.
  • Provide information on an ad hoc basis.
  • Present data in various formats as and when required.
  • Have the ability and commitment to work independently as well as part of the team and be able to adhere to strict deadlines.

Service Specific Duties Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with speciality admissions booking teams to support continuous improvement in understanding of patient pathway. This may involve leading on or participating in specific training sessions for staff as required.
  • Responsible for reviewing RTT performance.
  • Support the clinical and administrative teams in ensuring the preassessment clinics are set up correctly.
  • Responsible for the day to day management and utilisation of the preassessment clinics, ensuring all slots are fully utilised.
  • Coordinating all aspects of the preassessment bookings, Synopsis questionnaires and triage clinics.
  • Ensuring clinic outcomes are actioned and are correctly recorded on PIMS.
  • Attend team huddles.
