A fantastic chance is available for a Band 3 Medical Secretary to offer support to one of our Respiratory Medicine Teams at Heartlands. In this role, you'll deliver a comprehensive secretarial service in our lively department. Working closely with clinical teams to ensure the safe and efficient management of patients, you'll be the initial point of contact, requiring top-notch communication skills.

Our medical secretaries are invaluable, so we seek an individual with a solid background - 12 months' experience as a secretary or admin within healthcare, precise audio-typing skills, excellent organization, multitasking capabilities, and composure under pressure. Proficiency in MS Office is a must, along with the ability to grasp new IT systems swiftly.

Main Responsibilities

  • Booking, rescheduling, and canceling appointments/clinics
  • Monitoring waiting lists & clinic capacity
  • Producing accurate correspondence promptly via audio dictation
  • Managing patient investigations and prioritizing actions under medical team guidance
  • Maintaining Consultant diaries
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for patients and colleagues
  • Updating patient information in systems and spreadsheets
  • Organizing daily workload and prioritizing tasks efficiently
  • Completing necessary actions from correspondence and requests
  • Other duties as outlined in the job description

Experience in secretarial roles or admin within a healthcare setting for 12+ months.
