Who are we?
GWR is the proud custodian of Brunel's railway - one of the most prestigious networks in the world. We have some of the newest trains in the country and exciting plans to extend our services.

We are transforming the way people think about train travel, empowering our team of over 6,000 people from all different backgrounds to make it a great experience for our customers.

Together, we will revalue rail as a very special way to travel - relaxing, fast, efficient, friendly and fun.

About the job?

As a Finance Accounts Assistant, you will be an active member of the Treasury team involved in reconciling transactional balance sheet accounts, maintaining internal controls to safeguard GWR's assets, ensuring liabilities are settled in an effective manner, managing employee expense payments as well as involvement with other transactional duties as required.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Liaising with the wider business to provide information and/or analysis
  • Development and preparation of exception reporting
  • Supporting other Finance teams and the wider business as required

You'll need to be:

You will have worked in a Finance team and have experience of dealing with complex balance sheet reconciliations which utilise large data sets.

It goes without saying that you'll be proficient user of MS Office suite and have been a recent SAP user.

Numerically savvy and confident, you'll enjoy process improvement, challenging the status quo and using creative thinking to drive efficiencies in current processes.

You'll enjoy being part of a team and have the motivation to manage your workload effectively and efficiently.

About the location?
The role is based at Milford House in Swindon with occasional travel to other GWR locations as required.

Working Pattern?
