The Headmaster of
Eltham College and the Head of the Junior School seek to appoint an outstanding individual to the position of Deputy Head (Academic) of the Junior School.


The Deputy Head (Academic) will have responsibility for all aspects of the Junior School's academic programme, ensuring the curriculum meets the high standards of Eltham College.

The post holder's primary responsibilities are to take a key role in strategic planning, to provide academic leadership, to assist, support and advise the Head of the Junior School and to ensure and promote the success of the school.


This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented individual to work closely with the Head in an outstanding Junior School and gain greater experience of an all through school before potentially seeking their own headship.


Eltham College is a highly successful independent day school in south-east London, educating boys and girls aged 7 to 18 across both Junior and Senior Schools.


The College has grown considerably over recent years:

there are now over 800 students in the Senior School and around 260 pupils in the Junior School and places are heavily oversubscribed.

Since 2020, girls have been able to join Years 3 and 7, mirroring the Sixth Form which has been coeducational for over 45 years.

The school places an equal emphasis on academic, pastoral and co-curricular excellence and has an outstanding reputation in all three areas as well as for the friendly, unpretentious nature of daily life.
