Role purpose

  • To oversee the of the Customer Governance framework, designing a strategy which aligns with business wide governance practices and regulatory requirements to deliver good outcomes for customers.
  • To work closely with teams across the Chief Customer Office to provide a framework of understanding of key risks, ownership of RCSA, definition and execution of key controls. You will also ensure all risk issues and events are recorded in an accurate and timely fashion, with clear plans for corrective action delivered on time.
  • You will provide support and challenge to ensure that Vanquis products are being managed consistently to the high level of internal governance expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will have comprehensive understanding of UK Legal and Regulatory environment in which VBG and its products operate.
  • Ensure the CCO function operates within the enterprise risk framework of VBG, providing effective oversight of regulatory, conduct and operational risk.
  • Liaise proactively across the 3 lines of defence to deliver good outcomes.
  • Lead the creation and review of RCSAs and operation of effective business controls
  • Act as key participant in business change, projects and system developments.
  • Ensure Statutory communications are delivered across the customer journey, including testing of accurate and timely content and delivery to the right customers.
  • Ensure vulnerable customers are well served, with operations in line with requirements such as Equality Act and FCA guidance.
  • Be the champion of first line risk and doing the right thing, ensuring team members understand their responsibilities and have an extra point of support.

Governance Specific:

  • Management of the relevant governance frameworks e.g. Governance committee, product annual reviews, ensuring design control and maintenance is sufficient.
  • Provide total reassurance that Vanquis products are being managed securely and reliably to the high level of internal governance expected as well as the obligatory regulatory expectations.
  • Work closely with commercial functions to ensure that product design complies with regulations and aligns with our Customer proposition, nurturing a culture of making governance a part of colleagues everyday lives.
  • Ensure that effective, appropriately policies, procedures and methodologies are developed, user friendly, well understood and regularly reviewed to support the Group's business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with regulators, industry and trade bodies to maintain effective, efficient, appropriate, best practice Governance management strategies.
  • Ensure that the governance culture and the importance of robust and appropriate internal control processes remain high on the agenda of senior and line managers.
  • Leadership of the Governance function and Governance Committee's, ensuring colleagues have a clear understanding of the business objectives and how their role contributes to them.
  • Ensure the CCO function operates within the enterprise risk framework of VBG, providing effective oversight of regulatory, conduct and operational risk.
  • Ensure Statutory communications are delivered across the customer journey, including testing of accurate and timely content and delivery to the right customers.

Skills & Experience required:

  • Extensive experience in a compliance, regulatory or governance role, within a banking or credit environment, providing expert leadership to a team within this a
