MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB The post holder will be part of the NHS Talking Therapies service located within SignHealth and will provide low to moderate-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

The post-holder will work with clients who have a mild to moderate range of anxiety and depression-related problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.

The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages who are British Sign Language users.

The post holder will adhere to the delivery of interventions and client suitability as described in the NHS IAPT/ talking therapies manual.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. CLINICAL 1.1.

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service and develop programmes of care packages to meet the needs of the client whos first or preferred language is BSL.

1.2.


Undertake patient-centred interviews to identify areas where they wish to change and assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions, supporting the self-management of their recovery.

1.3. Carry out thorough assessments of risk and follow safeguarding procedures. 1.4.


Contribute to the decision-making on the suitability of new referrals and referral allocation, adhering to the Service referral protocols and referring unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent or step-up the persons treatment to high intensity psychological therapy as necessary.

1.5. Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high-volume low-intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help computerised CBT, one to one or group sessions, online or face to face.

1.6. Use highly developed communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties. 1.7.

Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT and other psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.

1.8. Represent BSL Healthy Minds/SignHealth in a professional manner by undertaking presentations and promotions as and when requested. 1.9.

Adhere to an agreed number of clinical contacts per week to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

1.10.

Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the Service.

1.12. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols.

1.13.Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped-care approach.

1.14.Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process.

1.15. Liaise with other health and social care staff from a range of agencies in the care provided to clients. 2. TRAINING AND SUPERVISION 2.1.

Contribute to the teaching and training of mental health professionals, trainee PWPs and other staff working in the Service. 2.2.

Prepare and present clinical information for all patients on their caseload to clinical case management supervisors within the service on an agreed and scheduled basis, in order to ensure safe practice and the clinical governance obligations of the worker, supervisor and service are delivered.

Respond to and implement supervision suggestions by supervisors in clinical practice. 3. PROFESSIONAL 3.1. Ensure that client confidentiality is always protected.

3.2. Operate at all times from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity. 3.3.

To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing in accordance with professional codes of practice.

3.4. Be aware of and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of CBT and other psychological therapies. 3.5.

Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development (CPD).

3.6. Participate in individual performance reviews and respond to agreed objectives. 3.7.

Keep up to date all records in relation to CPD and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of the latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.

3.8. Attend relevant conferences/workshops in line with identified professional objectives. 3.9. Participate in service improvement by highlighting issues and implementing changes in practice.
