What you'll be responsible for:

  • Be proficient in the manual calculation of gross to net pay for advances and overpayments, providing BACS payments outside the normal pay period as required. Maintaining a register of all overpayments, following the recovery procedure outlined in the Service Level Agreement for each Client and agreeing repayment plans with employees.
  • Proactively maintain and develop an extensive level of factual knowledge and expertise. Have an indepth working knowledge of the policies/practices and procedures of different Clients.
  • Ensure all employee new starter records are set up in ESR following transfer of the applicant record from NHS Jobs, where appropriate and all new starter information is checked to ensure employees are paid correctly. Verify and approve NHS service of new employees through the ESR Inter-Authority Transfer process to confirm starting salary, leave, sickness and contracts.

  • A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You'll have the following skills/experience:

  • Excellent communication skills
- both verbal and written

  • Microsoft office skills
  • Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Minimum of three years' experience working in a specialised integrated HR/Payroll/Pensions department
  • Knowledge and experience of HMRC regulations in respect of payroll and pensions regulations
  • Sound understanding of the Data Protection Act.
  • Experience of working with the national NHS Payroll system ESR (desirable)
  • This role may require you to show evidence of _NVQ4 or AAT Technician _or at least 2 years relevant experience._
