Cambridgeshire County Council Targeted Support Service provides support to children, young people and their families. Each Targeted Support Team consists of Family Workers, Child and Family Centre workers, Young People's Worker's, Senior Transitions Advisors, Transitions Advisors, Client Researchers and managers. The team provides early intervention support to reduce the risk of harm and reduce escalation of problems to support keeping families together and achieve positive outcomes.

The role of Young People's Worker (YPW) is an 18.5 hour post, fixed term until April 2025, based at Hereward Hall, March supporting the March, Chatteris and Whittlesey Targeted Support Team. This is an exciting, varied and highly skilled role supporting young people (aged 12 to 19) with intensive one to one support to enable them to reach positive outcomes. YPW's support individual young people, however they use a whole family approach to analyse how support provided impacts on the young person's family.

Interviews will be held at Whittlesey Youth & Community Centre, 15 Scaldgate, Whittlesey, PE7 1SD on Monday 24th June.

What will you be doing?

You will support a caseload of young people by providing targeted interventions to support with a range of risks or needs which may include things such as child sexual and criminal exploitation, healthy relationships, at risk of exclusion from education, county lines, and anti-social behaviour.

You will complete Early Help Assessments (EHA's) and be Lead Professional for the young person. As lead professional you will work in partnership with the multi-agency team around the family and provide tailored, targeted intervention that enables young people to achieve positive outcomes.

You will organise, plan and deliver evidence-based group work programmes that aim to support young people with topics such as emotional resilience, risk taking behaviour, healthy relationships and more. You will also support delivery of parenting programmes delivered to parents of teenagers.

Skills and Experience:

  • You will have a good knowledge and understanding of the issues facing young people and their families, and the support service in place to help them achieve positive outcomes.
  • You will have a good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding requirements, duty of care, and legislation relating to support young people and their families, including that of legislation regarding Raising of the Participation Age.
  • You will have good communication skills using a variety of formats and will work efficiently within a multi- agency environment.
  • You will have the ability to produce, keep and maintain good case recording, reports, and assessments.
  • Willingness to travel locally and across the County.

You will be required to hold a full and valid driving license and have access to a vehicle or have the ability to otherwise travel efficiently between locations.
