About the Role

The Liverpool Sensory Service are seeking to appoint an experienced qualified and experienced Advisory Teacher of Deaf Children & Young People (QToD) holding the mandatory qualification to work in a peripatetic role across the Liverpool City region to cover the maternity leave of the current post holder for the autumn 2024 and spring 2025 terms. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded, innovative and supportive Sensory Service which provides a comprehensive induction and mentorship programme for all new members of staff. This post will start from 2 September 2024.

Our centrally based service consists of a large team of experienced Advisory Teachers of the Deaf, Educational Audiologist, Communication Support Workers, Teaching Assistants, and a BSL Tutor/Deaf Role Model. We seek to support children and young people 0-25 with a sensory loss in a variety of settings including homes, nurseries, mainstream schools, colleges and specialist provisions across Liverpool to build their capacity to meet the needs of our deaf learners. We maintain a strong commitment to inclusive education, multi-agency working, high standards of attainment and quality of life experiences for all our pupils.

We are looking to appoint a conscientious, motivated professional who seeks to improve the outcomes for our deaf young people and who is committed to working in partnership with our partners. The role of the Advisory Teacher of the Deaf requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, resilience, the ability to meet deadlines, work independently as well as contributing to the work of the wider team within the Service. Due to the nature of this role, it is essential that the post-holder can work across the city, a mileage allowance is offered from our office base. Smartphone and laptop are provided.

Applications from candidates who hold additional qualifications, such as a qualification in Educational Audiology, BSL L3 or an additional VI qualification are welcomed

This post is subject to Teachers' pay and conditions and salary is MPS – UPS with an additional allowance of SEN 2 for those with mandatory Teacher of the Deaf qualification and experienced in the field.
