Aligned with the Ahead Together strategy and vision, General Medicines represents a £10bn business (32% of GSK sales) and is poised for significant growth in the coming years.

The VP L2L Operations Head plays a crucial role in driving this expansion, with primary responsibility for implementing Company strategy and managing P&L across 8 of the 16 manufacturing sites in the network spanning North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia (including locations in Algeria, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Japan).

This role ensures optimal performance across the GSK portfolio in the Area and collaborates on the strategic direction with the LOCs.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Define the L2L manufacturing operations strategy in collaboration with the SVP of Primary & Small Molecule (PSM) Manufacturing and the strategy group to ensure top-tier performance, commercial alignment, and returns.
  • Work with the L2L Leadership Team to achieve business objectives in partnership with Commercial, fostering a unified P&L mindset and impactful business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Site Directors to optimize gross margins through efficient cost management and revenue goals, in alignment with Commercial objectives.
  • Drive operational excellence and ensure a consistent supply of medicines in the markets in accordance with GSK KPIs and customer demands.
  • Effectively manage GSK resources to execute the long-term strategy, evolve the portfolio, and achieve performance targets.
  • Provide leadership to Site Directors and manufacturing sites to maintain a seamless supply of medicines at the right cost and quality.
  • Ensure Site Directors champion a mindset of enterprise, promoting market agility and commercial alignment.
  • Manage GSK Enterprise Risks, Compliance, and maintain a sharp focus on Safety throughout operations.
  • Ensure compliance with local and global laws, policies, SOPs, and regulations, including EHS, Quality, and financial reporting.
  • Lead, evaluate, and develop senior leaders and teams while nurturing a high-performing team environment in line with internal and external regulations.

Performance Culture:

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning, championing LEAN and Digital methodologies as core practices.
  • Establish a rewarding environment for high performance and address underperformance effectively.
  • Develop relationships with external entities, health communities, and industry associations.
  • Cultivate a strong Quality culture within L2L operations and ensure compliance with Quality and Regulatory standards across sites.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies, build robust relationships internally and externally, and participate in key inspections.
  • Lead with an empowering and decisive style, building trust, credibility, and networks across markets, Commercial, and other functions at regional and global levels.
  • Cultural sensitivity and cross-cultural effectiveness are vital, along with experience in a commercial capacity.
