Do you want to make a difference in keeping Hampshire and the Isle of Wight safe?

Our operational and analytical response unit is looking for lead analysts to join their busy and important team. These teams are critical in helping Hampshire & IOW Constabulary with their purpose of making 'You, Your Family, and Our Communities Safer'.

We have both a permanent and temporary position available.

About the Role

In this role, you will manage a team of both analysts and researchers to develop analytical products that support the Force with meeting a wide range of complex objectives and challenges.

You will oversee your team as they investigate district level issues, reacting to information on criminal activity and investigating trends. You will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the analysis and see the positive outcomes of those decisions and your teams work; from successful prosecutions of offenders, to better support for victims.

Your duties on any day may include:

  • Line management of a team of Analysts and Researchers. This will include providing them direction, motivation and leadership, supporting their wellbeing, and encouraging their training and professional development. You will prioritise the deployment of your teams' skills and expertise to where it is most needed.

  • Build and maintain relationships with strategic leads and customers to identify, influence and assist problem solving and decision making. You will ensure that analysis is focused on highlighting the key issues and answering the right questions in the most efficient and appropriate way.

  • Be a subject matter expert in analytical tools and techniques. Use professional expertise and evidence to guide others across the force, through formal and informal engagement.

  • Lead on the preparation and presentation of the results of analysis to internal colleagues and outside organisations, including partner agencies.

  • Promote the concept of 'evidence based policing' across the organisations and within the analysis team. Encourage staff to use evidence based policing techniques such as targeting, testing and tracking, to support identification and delivery of 'what works'.
