Job overview

We are recruiting for a Rota Coordinator and Education Team leader who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You will look after the junior doctors and education team admin.

Working closely with the clinical and operational teams to ensure that all areas of the service are covered.

This will include working with agencies and our resourcing team to source locums to cover gaps within the rota.

You will be supported by having a direct link with the consultants and senior registrars who have responsibility for the rotas.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for coordinating administration of the medical staffing rotas within Cancer Services department using Medical Health Roaster compliant rotas.

Co-ordinate the sickness, annual leave, study leave and special leave for all medical staff identifying and escalating risks with input and support from the Consultants, Senior registers and the leadership team.

Act as team lead the education admin team

Provide assistance and advice to new and existing users of the system.

Dealing with swaps, shift time changes and any other roster changes and record them on Medirota accurately, on time and in advance where possible. Authorisation may require for any changes to a fully
approved roster

Work closely with the other medical Workforce Co-ordinators in the department, providing cover where necessary, and mutual support at peak periods such as August changeover

Person specificationQualifications, Training and ExperienceEssential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent knowledge. At least educated to 'A' level standard and above
  • Proven literary and numeracy skills
  • Experience of working with a range of people with different roles and levels of knowledge
  • Highly competent with computer systems, especially with Microsoft products i.e. Excel and Database
  • Staff management, including management of sickness, absence and performance
  • Experience of working within the NHS, ideally working with medical and clinical staff
  • Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with staff across all levels
  • Self motivated
  • Flexibility and team participation
  • Understanding of quality and change in a hospital setting
  • Knowledge of working on staffing related systems, particularly e-Rostering
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures of a support or customer services team
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously when no line manager is present
