Based at Central Middlesex Hospital in Brent, the elective orthopaedic centre will see over 4,000 Londoners a year for routine bone and joint surgery when it opens in November 2023.


We're looking for a permanent, skilled surgical nurse as part of our specialist team of healthcare professionals to care for our patients in post anaesthetic recovery area in theatres.

High dependency nursing experience would be an advantage but not essential.


As a recovery practitioner, you will be responsible for the post-operative and post-anaesthetic care of patients following surgery in the recovery area.


You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating programmes of care including admission and discharge planning for each patient allocated to you in the recovery area.

To care for post-operative patients and update care records according to their clinical needs.


To promote and maintain effective communication with the members of the multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with the medical team on post-operative care and facilitating timely interventions.

To deliver excellent nursing care to patients ensuring their safe recovery from anesthesia and surgery using recovery discharge criteria.

  • As a recovery Practitioner, you will be responsible for the postoperative care of patients following surgery in the Recovery area.
  • To deliver highest standard of evidencebased care practice and play an active part in the introduction of this evidence to improve patient centred care and service delivery.
  • To effectively liaise with the multidisciplinary team ensuring the relevant information regarding patient's postoperative care needs are communicated and appropriately addressed or acted upon.
  • To recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
To maintain accurate and comprehensive care records in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct, legal and Trust's requirements
