We are looking for someone to progress to a senior role with Jemcare.

As a senior support worker you will lead a small group of carers. You will be responsible for the weekly roster, allocating shifts and ensuring annual leave is covered within the team. You will be the main point of contact for your team and your service users. You will attend reviews and look after customers day to day concerns and issues. You will also supervise and monitor your team.

This position is a leadership role and ideally would suit someone with their Level 3 in Health & Social Care. If you do not hold this qualification then we would ask for relevant experience in care and/or the drive to achieve this qualification whilst working for Jemcare.


You must be be flexible to do 35 hours per week (more available upon request) and this includes alternative weekends.

These are set to allow you to make plans around them.

Due to travelling between homes you must drive and have access to your own car.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


To provide a service of care to service users to enable them to lead as independent a lifestyle as possible.

The care service will involve a programme of personal care and household management that is personalised for each service user in the form of a support plan.

Care duties will therefore include assisting the service user with the following activities and in doing so will at times observe and respect the service user's dignity, privacy, and independence as far as practical.


To conform to all policies and procedures laid down by Jemcare in respect of carrying out care duties and in other aspects of the business, as relevant.

To participate in training and personal development.

  • To participate as directed by the branch manager in induction training and regular inservice training programmes.
  • To participate as directed by the manager in the gaining of an NVQ qualification for health and social care level 2.
To maintain accurate, concise, and timely records of service user care, diary sheets, time sheets and mileage sheets.

To participate in staff, team and quality management review meetings as directed by the manager.


To report back to the manager or senior support worker/team leaders any aspect of the service user which he/she feels warrants investigation or urgent action.

To participate in reviews of service users care plans as required. To be aware of the tasks and activities which must not be undertaken as part of care duties.

PERSONAL CARE:

  • Dressing and undressing/ preparing the service user for day care or trips out.
  • Washing/bathing/showering/shaving/grooming/cleaning teeth.
  • Hair care(washing/brushing)
  • Nail care (fingernails only)
  • Toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene
  • Continence management
  • Care of pressure sore (under appropriate nursing supervision)
  • Getting in and out of bed.
  • Assisting with the use of aids to daily living/ rehabilitation aids, as required.
  • Helping with rehabilitation programmes as prescribed by healthcare professionals
  • Day/evening/night sitting service, as required.
  • Assistance with catheter and/ or stoma care.

HEALTH CARE:

- To assist the service user in taking prescribed medication.

DIETARY CARE:

  • Preparation of snacks and meals according to the service users likes and dislikes.
  • Assistance with feeding, as required.

DOMESTIC/HOUSEHOLD SERVICES:

  • General cleaning duties, to include cleaning, dusting, vacuuming/polishing
  • Bed making.
  • Cleaning refuse and rubbish
  • Laundering/hand washing/ironing, as required
  • Fuel management
  • Shopping, and the preparation of shopping lists and assistance of budgeting.

PERSONAL SERVICES:

  • Assistance with personal finances, to include paying bills
  • Personal planning (birthdays/anniversaries etc)
  • Democratic rights (voting etc)
