We are a 24 bedded unit specialising in emergency surgery.

This is a part-time post role for 37.5 hrs per week and does include include nights and weekends.


You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work at Band 2 level to increase to band 3 competency, and recent acute hospital experience would be advantageous.


To contribute to the optimum delivery of care for all patients by assisting all healthcare and clinical staff to meet the needs for this group of patients.

To ensure that privacy and dignity is respected at all times.

To have a good understanding of the complex needs of this group of patients.


To assist the team in providing an excellent service at all times by ensuring a good knowledge of the patient and service requirements.

To perform necessary tests for our patients, to include, ECG, bloods, and any other relevant clinical skill.


To establish a rapport with the patient and relatives and an awareness of the individual patient needs, ensuring these are communicated to the Registered nurse.


To have full understanding of the impact of the patient's condition on their hygiene, nutritional and mobility abilities and needs.

To assist patients, where necessary by the use of appropriate aids/appliance, to achieve physical comfort.

This will involve the safe moving and handling of patients to varying degrees dependant on their condition and care needs.

Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore actively encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.
