Mission


The Performance & Reward (P&R) Expert is responsible for defining and implementing a balanced and fair compensation strategy for the UK & Middle East branches of ING.

The P&R Expert will be a critical support to the HR management team on all decisions related to compensation, including hiring proposals, annual cyclical reviews, and specific projects.

The P&R Expert will partner with the local management team and challenge constructively when required.

He/she will be the point of contact for the central P&R function and will contribute to the enhancements of the function across ING.


Main Duties and Responsibilities of the role
The P&R Expert will support the HR and the Management Team of ING UK & Middle East on all activities related to Compensation, including (but not limited to):

  • Ensuring compliance with our local and global regulatory obligations in terms of remuneration policies, procedures, and governance
  • Delivering the annual identification and ongoing supervision of regulated functions, in liaison with the Compliance team and with a strong focus on remuneration related impacts
  • Managing, along with the Risk and Compliance teams, the quarterly Material Risk Taker identification for the UK, the employees communication process and preparation of the annual remuneration policy statements, yearend regulatory submissions, and pillar 3 disclosures
  • Leading and coordinating the responses to internal and external consultations on all compensation related matters
  • Producing all documentation related to compensation, including policies, memos to management, letters to staff, etc.
  • Preparing all UK Remuneration Committee packs
  • Managing the endtoend annual compensation round, supporting the local HR Business Partners and management team
  • Delivering the annual compensation benchmarking exercise
  • Delivering regulatory reporting such as the annual UK Gender Pay Gap report
  • Collecting reward related market intelligence and trends across the local market
  • Representing ING in external bodies such as interbanks forum, City HR association, legal advisors' roundtables etc. on all compensation related topics
  • Improving local P&R practices, including review of our salary grids and market positioning for all roles and functions

Global & Business Line P&R

  • Alongside the local reward and regulatory focus, this role will manage the development and implementation of Global and business line P&R projects across a range of topics into the local market, including benchmark software integration, individual variable remuneration targets etc.
  • Manage key operational reward policies and processes in line with global approval standards including certification and deviations from ING Remuneration Regulations Framework (IRRF), Job Grading outcomes, package proposals for senior hires, terminations, retentions etc.
  • Link with the Global and broader Wholesale Banking P&R teams, as appropriate
  • Participation in the overall UK HR strategy and roadmap delivery

Qualification/Education

Essential:
University degree

Desirable:
Master's degree

Experience/Knowledge

Essential:
Experience in P&R activities in the UK, in an FCA/PRA regulated environment

Strong data analytics capability

Strong understanding of UK remuneration regulations with experience of working and advising on UK remuneration regulations rules

Demonstrated ability to deal with senior stakeholders particularly within HR and fellow peers in Risk, Compliance, Finance, and ING Group

Excellent proficiency in excel along with strong analytical, data and reporting management skills

Demonstrated background in managing P&R programmes

Desirable:
Experience working in a matrix (global/local - functional/hierarchical) environment
